THIS JUST IN!
Greetings Friends and Fiends!
Ye Olde Dragon here, with some late-breaking Kaiju-News!
Earlier this afternoon, it was announced that the long-awaited sequel to Guillermo del Toro‘s homage to Giant Monsters and Giant Robots, PACIFIC RIM (2013), has an official release date! Mark your calendars for:
FEBRUARY 23, 2018
This comes as a relief, as the film’s fate has been up in the air for the better part of two years, going on and off of Legendary’s schedule of releases.
This news comes just weeks after the announcement that John Boyega – who plays Finn in the new STAR WARS cycle – was cast in an as yet unnamed role. The film will be directed by former DAREDEVIL show-runner Steven S. DeKnight.
Another interesting point is that this date is one week after the release of Marvel‘s BLACK PANTHER (2018). This REALLY makes Feb-March, 2018 jam packed with genre goodness:
February 9: The Predator (Fox)
February 16: Black Panther
February 23: Pacific Rim 2
March 2: Untitled Fox Marvel film (Fox) (new date)
March 2: Meg (Warner Bros.)
March 16: The Flash
March 30: Ready Player One (Warner Bros.)
…End of Line…
