@TCM Spotlighting American International Pictures in May, 2016

Greetings, Friends and Fiends!
Ye Olde Dragon here with big news!

In case you missed my May schedule of Imagi-Movies on TCM (and if you did, go read it! I’ll wait. You’re back? Good.), the good folks at Turner Classic Movies are spotlighting the films of American International Pictures on Thursday nights in May.

For those of you unaware of this production studio, this brainchild of showman Samuel Z. Arkoff and financial mind James H. Nicholson is responsible for hundreds of independently made, low-budget films in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. Many of these are Imagi-Movies of exquisite cheesiness and wholesale fun! AIP gave us Saucer Men, Colossal Men, Teenage Monsters and were the US distributors for both GODZILLA and GAMERA movies in the 1960s. When you add into this, the bulk of Roger Corman‘s portfolio, The Beach Party Movies, Troubled Teen Movies and so many great performances from Vincent Price, you can see why AIP holds a very special place in Ye Olde Dragon’s heart.

In May, on Thursday nights, Turner Classic Movies is presenting all night marathons of selections culled from all genres within the vast catalog of AIP. Though I only posted the Imagi-Movies in the schedule, at this time I’d like to give you the full schedule, followed by a batch of posters from AIP films – though not all of them will be featured during the month. It’s just to give you an idea of the films they produced. Whether they’re special effects films or not, believe me when I say that they’ll be getting watched by members of both #DriveInMob and #TCMParty. So without further adieu, here is your schedule for TCM Spotlight: American International Pictures.
