Prince Sirki Visits Planet Druidia

sirki-summons3Greetings from Beyond The Veil, O Effendi!

Sad news today as Prince Sirki has called upon Vincent Van Patten, at the age of 86, after a lengthy illness.

Though probably best known for his portrayal of patriarch Tom Bradford on the TV series EIGHT IS ENOUGH, he will no doubt be fondly remembered for his association with Mel Brooks. He portrayed Friar Tuck in Brooks’ Robin Hood comedy series, WHEN THINGS WERE ROTTEN. He went back to Sherwood for Brooks’ feature film ROBIN HOOD: MEN IN TIGHTS (1993) in a cameo (Hey ABBOTT!!). He was a victim of foul play in Brooks’ homage to Hitchcock, HIGH ANXIETY (1977) and played Roland, King of The Druids of Planet Druidia, in Brooks’ send-up of sci-fi franchises, SPACEBALLS (1987). He also made numerous appearances in Disney films in the 70s, usually as the toadie of some corporate villain as in THE STRONGEST MAN IN THE WORLD (1975) and THE SHAGGY D.A. (1976). He also appeared in WESTWORLD (1973) and SOYLENT GREEN (1973).
