Ye Olde Dragon is sad to once again bear bad news, but that is part of the job I have taken on. Word has come that prolific fantasy author Sir Terry Pratchett has passed away at age 66, after battling a rare form of early-onset Alzheimer’s disease for the better part of a decade.
My sympathies to his friends and fans, and most especially his family. I completely empathize with what they must of been going through these past few years, as it’s now approaching the second anniversary of my grandmother’s passing, who also was a victim of Alzheimer’s.
The majority of his immense works centered on DISCWORLD, a flat disk borne on the backs of gigantic elephants which in turn, walked on the back of an unimaginably enormous turtle.
As a long time of vowed reader and fan of fantasy, I’m almost ashamed to admit that I have read very little of Pratchett’s work, and even that was well over 20 years ago. I shall have to look into correcting that.
…End of line…
