When @TheCinementals, @MnstrIsleResort & I were recording the podcast Friday night, we briefly talked about how they’d heard that the films featured on TCM’s SPOTLIGHT ON ISHIRO HONDA were ALL going to be the Japanese versions, as opposed to just GOJIRA (1954). None of us could find any verification to these rumors so it was decided that all references to the Japanese versions would be edited out.
Well, HERE’S my update!
I just spoke with a friend on Twitter who’s a producer at TCM and asked him about the rumors. It went like this:
Me: “I heard a rumor that ALL of the Honda films being shown on Friday will be original versions in Japanese. Any truth to this?”
Scott McGee (@
bbunny1940) : “that’s what I understand”
UPDATE – 6/12, 12:20PM: In addition to saying that I can quote him, Scott also double-checked with the Programing dept & they said these should be in the original Japanese language.
So there it is! It’s looking like on this coming Friday night, June 15, ALL FOUR Ishiro Honda films will be in their ORIGINAL, Japanese versions.
So prepare to enjoy GOJIRA, SORA NO DAI KAIJU RADON, MOSURA and BIJO TO EKITAININGEN!!
(That’s Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra & H-Man (aka Beautiful Girls & the Hydrogen Man.))
THANK YOU TCM!!!!
