Greetings, Effendi. The Prince has been busy.
Oscar-winning costume designer Eiko Ishioka has passed away at age 73 from pancreatic cancer. She was in Tokyo at the time of her passing on Saturday, according to her publicist.
Ms. Ishioka won an Academy Award for her lavish and elaborate costume designs for 1992’s BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA. She also received a Grammy for her cover design of Miles Davis’ Tutu in 1986. She was also the director of costume design for the Beijing Summer Olympics opening ceremonies, and most recently designed the costumes for the much-maligned musical, Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark on Broadway.
